If you have a website and you’re not getting the traffic or results you want, what do you do? You could look at redesigning your website and add new features to increase the “calls to action” to empower your customers to contact you, submit requests, live chat, order online, etc.
But what if your website is already good or you don’t want to redo your website right now? Below are three options that can help people discover or rediscover your business and drive more traffic to your website!
- Search engine optimization. When people search on Google or Yahoo for what you do, you want your website to appear on page 1 of the results. You can use various tools and techniques to optimize your website and hopefully be on the page 1 “organic” results for your business, industry, products or services. (An example of organic results are the 10 results on page 1.) Searchers tend to click on organic results 60% of the time.
- Online advertising. When people search on Google or Yahoo for what you do, you can pay for ads to appear on the right side (and top) of the results page. This paid advertising (sponsored links) get approximately 40% of the clicks from searchers (compared to 60% for organic results).
- Social media. You’ve definitely watched several YouTube videos that someone emailed to you. Many of the people you know are on Facebook, LinkedIn and/or Twitter, among others. These are all social media sites. Businesses and nonprofits can use social media sites to communicate their messages and engage with their audiences. Every time you tweet, post a link on Facebook or a video on YouTube, you are able to catch attention and drive traffic to your website!
